On planning....

There i was, sitting at a funeral get-together, thinking about life and the rest, wondering and marveling how these people just take calamities in their stride.....and then i remembered something i read the other day.....

Nothing deep, i can assure you, it was actually on a year planner.  You know the type where you have the whole year at a glance?  On this one there was a few Scripture verses to the one side - short ones, i must admit, to fit in, you see!  On the other side was (and i quote) "Plan your spiritual growth"  What?  How do you do that?  Do you take the yearly calendar and say something like "Hmm, I think January would be a good month to learn a bit more of trusting God in health issues - yes, that will fit in with my son's concussion and the fact that we couldn’t manage to see a doctor, but God is trustworthy because He miraculously send one to us later!"  ??  Is that how you do it?

Rarely have i grown in times when all was well with the world!  So how do they propose that you plan this??  It is kind of a novel idea to think you can decide when growing spiritually would suit you!!  I think i will probably shift it to the end of the year and then never get to it, if i could "plan" it!!

And so on this last day of January, i wonder what February will bring, but i guess my planning will not come to much!  God has already marked my days on His calendar and i am much more willing to follow His perfect plans than try and make my own - for i know i will be a midget, or in Grade one forever if it was up to me!!
